How Much Does Roadmaster Hitch Spare Tire Mount Weigh

Question:
How much does this spare tire carrier weigh? I am looking for a solution to carry a spare tire for my Tesla Model Y. Tesla says the maximum weight the class III trailer hitch can have is 160 pounds with this type of carrier. It has something to do with unknown bending moments of items other than a normal trailer tongue. 2022 Tesla Model Y dual motor.

Hey Dale! The Roadmaster Hitch Spare Tire Mount # RM-195225 weighs 77 lbs. What Tesla is saying probably falls in line with the 33% reduction of your hitch capacity from the use of this carrier. It basically acts as a hitch extension which typically reduces hitch capacity by 50% unless otherwise stated from the manufacturer.
