Can the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack for 1 Bike Part Number: B54VR be safely used to carry a bike that has 45mm 1.77 inch wide tires? I have two bikes one has fat tires and the other has narrow tires

Yes, it can Lou. The wheel cradles on the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack for 1 Bike item # B54VR will work with tires up to 4" wide. The straps on the cradles will have no issues synching down on your 1.77" wide tires.
