Can I Use The Progrressive Dymanics PD49RR With My Novawinch Mini Mover?

Updated 06/09/2025 | Published 05/26/2025

Question:

Hello, I’m interested in purchasing a Novawinch Mini Mover 12v electric trailer wheel jack link below. I just want to use it at home on my regular shore power but it only runs off a 12V battery and minimum size of 20 Amph. I do not want to hook it up to the trailer lith.ion.phosphate 12V battery. Is it possible to use something like the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger - 12V - 30A - PD49RR to power the Novawinch Mini Mover off of a regular 3-pronged 110 outlet at home? Thank you!

Hey Lisa,

You can absolutely use the Progressive Dynamics # PD49RR with that Novawinch so you don't have to hook up to the trailers battery. You'll simply just plug into the 3 prong 110 outlet like you said and then the Novawinch would just hook up to the positive and negative terminals on the converter. I attached a photo for you to get a better idea of where that is on the converter. This is going to work great for exactly what you are wanting to do.

What kind of trailer do you have this setup on?

Hi Nick! Thank you so much for this! I have a small 1000 lb pop up camper trailer that is too heavy for me to pull up the 4 degree incline I have where I can't get the car in easily. In the meantime I contacted the Novawinch company and they said I could also use a jump start battery pack. I needed one anyway since, if necessary, my car only can be jumped with one of those, not with cables and another car. So I got a 2000A 12 Volt Jump Starter which did the trick! But it was so great to hear that I could also have powered the Novawinch with the Progressive Dynamics # PD49RR converter if there was no other way without difficult wiring to my trailer battery. Figuring this all out is next to impossible without help from people such as yourself who share information for us newbies. Many thanks for your thorough and thoughtful reply Nick!.

@LisaH Well that is great to hear you found a solution, and at least have a back up plan as well! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions about anything, I'll be here!
