Can Thule Revert Bike Rack be Used with Honda Odyssey

Updated 11/10/2025 | Published 05/24/2025

Question:

Will the Thule revert work on a Honda odyssey? In particular I am concerned about the ground clearance. The 2” hitch on a Honda odyssey is very low to the ground. I don’t want my bikes contacting the ground on a steep driveway approach. How can I estimate the ground clearance for my bicycles’ rear wheels?

Hey Alan, yes the Thule ReVert bike rack part # TH83VA can be used in your Honda Odyssey 2 inch hitch. In the picture I attached you can see that the bikes back wheel is held higher than the shank of the rack so ground clearance should be good but it also depends on the wheelbase and wheel diameter of the bikes.

Hey Alan, did the Thule ReVert bike rack work out for your Honda Odyssey in terms of ground clearance? I'm curious to know if it met your needs, as it could help others with similar concerns about their vehicle setup.

@JamesonC I'm not Alan, but I recently installed a ReVert 6 on my Odyssey and it works fine. No issues with tailgate clearance. The Odyssey does run VERY low to the ground with anything more than a schoolbag in it, so it is low, but the clearance is what I would expect. My relatively long Forbidden Druid (Large, 1259mm wheelbase) sits with the tire ~12"/30mm off of the ground. Granted no other bikes on the rack, and without the six riders in the van. The center of the rear wheel is ~30"/76mm from the back bumper.
