Question:

Hi I have a 1998 Stratos Trail trailer that I want to redo the bearings and all associated hardware involved in that. Can you please tell me what size I need. I dont know the spindle size. I would also be interested in a loaded replacement hub. Trailer VIN 1DHMACLA6W1080820 19 2500 GVWR Single Axle - No Brakes Thanks for any help you can provide

Hello Rick, thanks for reaching out. We should have a bearing kit for you, but there is no way to use your VIN to know exactly what bearings and seals you would need. RV manufacturers just are not that specific with their online literature.

Your best bet will be to remove a wheel and see if you can find a part number cast on your hub. Usually we can use this to look up your bearing and seal info. If you can't find the part number, you can remove a hub and measure the ID of your bearings and the OD/ID of your seal. There may be a part number on the edge of your seal but those can rub off and be hard to make out. The bearings should have numbers on them too.

Leave a reply below with that info and I am happy to look into it and make a recommendation.

Thanks Jesse I thought the VIN would work. It is a boat trailer and Stratos has been out of business for some time. I want to avoid taking off the hubs and bearings to get #'s if at all possible. This will eliminate down time. Is there an Axle # we can work off of? If so, where would I find it on the axle.

@Bearings/hubS I wish there was a way to look up the VIN but trailers are not standardized like motor vehicles and there is no online VIN database. Only the maker of the trailer would be able to look that up and if they are out of business the only way will be to remove a hub and do some investigating. The same goes for the axle number. Only the maker of the axle would be able to run that number and know the bearing info. The axle tag might show a weight capacity which would help to narrow things down, but still would not tell us exactly what you need. Check for a part number on the hub. That will be the best bet for finding what you have without taking stuff apart. With the trailer being 25+ years old that could be hit or miss though. Let me know what you find out when you get around to it. You know where to find me :)
