Switching to Oil Bath on Tuff Trailer TSA6000T

Updated 05/11/2025 | Published 05/07/2025

Question:

I’m looking to swap the hybrid grease in my shield boat trailer hubs to a marine grease. Currently uses that hybrid grease that turns to oil when warmed, I think it’s by ufp. It’s a tuff trailer 6000t. I think I can do this if I swap out the inner seals. Anyway to confirm and get recommendation on seals?

Hey Joe! Make sure you get everything completely cleaned out before making the switch. Also, if you don't have an oil cap you will want one along with the seal. A kit like the # XLPROLUBE1980KIT will work if you have 3,500 lb axles. If you have different axles/hubs you will need to identify them to find the right replacement parts. Can you send me a picture of your axle tag?

Thanks Robin. Axles are 3500lb. So looks like need to swap the seals, what about the bearings and races? Can I reuse the old ones?

@Joe you can. However, I don't know much about that hybrid grease so I don't know how hard it is to get rid of, might be better to just swap them out with new ones # L68149 and # L44649. If you don't want the kit and want seals separately you can use the # TMK58ZR
