Would CE Smith Spare Tire Mount CE27202 Cause Damage to Wheel Stud Holes
Published 05/06/2025 >
Question:
Would vibration of the tire against a round bolt wear on the round lug nut hole in the wheel? Making it oblong eventually? Do you have a spare tire mount that uses lug nuts to hold the wheel?

Hey Dave, this is a great question but if you have the CE Smith Spare Tire Mount # CE27202 tight enough it won't allow any movement that would cause any damage to the wheel stud holes. If this was possible we would have heard of it happening by now as well. Have you had issues with spare carriers in the past?

It seems it would best to have lug nuts hold on the spare so they marry up with the bevel in the wheel
