Can 1/4 inch Thick Trailer Hub Grease Seal be Replaced with a 1/2 inch Thick Seal

I have a trailer wheel bearing seal I need replaced. The inner bearing number is L68149. The seal is only .25 Deep. Everything I can find is showing closer to 0.5 deep I found a kit for the wheel bearing that includes the L68149 with seals number 171255TB but I cant tell the depth or thickness of it. The outside diameter looks to be about 2.5 and inside 1.75 in. I found pieces that line up with it stacked but everything is too thick. Do you have seal with the smaller thickness? Ill need 2. Thanks

Hey Zachary, are you sure you need the seal to be that thin? Normally variances in seal thicknesses doesn't really affect anything and replacing a thinner seal with a thicker one doesn't cause any issues. If that's case our part # 58846 would fit and work great.

I know nothing about this stuff... Lol so maybe it will work. I picked up a seal from a parts place around here with these specs: Housing Bore (in): 2.561 Inch Inside Diameter (in): 1.718 Inch Outside Diameter (in): 2.565 Inch Width (in): 0.500 Inch It seemed to line up and seems to be like your recommendation but doesn't have that metal spring that yours has. But when I tried to put it in, it seemed a bit too large. To be fair I did not use a piece of wood to tap it in with equal pressure and ended up with one side getting bowed out as it got hung up. Idk if these are supposed to be that tight or if that shouldn't be happening even without wood to spread out the force of the tapping? It's a Dexter hub and axel. The seal was very difficult to get out.
