Question:
What would you consider as the most theft resistant boat trailer spare tire mount? It appears someone cut the two bolts that mount the tire on my trailer. Thanks Charles

Hi Charles; I'm sorry to hear that happened and that is a good question. They're almost exclusively bolt on so it is really hard to keep the spare tire mount secure if someone is willing to cut the bolts. The only thing I can think of that would be really secure is to add a Stake Pocket # HW03-080 and then weld in a stake pocket mount spare tire carrier like # SPTC.
Depending on the frame and tire carrier you could probably just weld one straight onto the trailer if you want. However, that might be difficult depending on the frame material. If you went this route and added a locking lug nut I don't think anyone would take the time to try and steal the tire.
