Can I Tow With the Trimax 2" Hitch Receiver Lock and Surge Brake Coupler Lock Set

Question:

I just bought a tear trailer 1400lb empty. Can I use the Trailer Hitch Lock to BOTH lock the trailer to my vehicle Toyota 4runner SR5, and to TOW my vehicle. Ive called customer service twice and theyve given me conflicting answer. Also, if I am able to TOW with the hitch lock, what is the maximum weight limit? Thanks for your help

Hi Danny, I am sorry you got misleading answers initially.

Yes, you can use the hitch receiver lock part # TMX43SR while towing your teardrop trailer with the Toyota 4Runner. The lock included with this kit, locks the latch of your trailer coupler so it cannot be taken off the trailer hitch ball.

Hitch locks (like pin locks or coupler locks) are not weight-bearing components when you're towing, so manufactures like Tri-max don't put a weight limit on them. The hitch is really bearing all of the tongue weight while towing, so you don't have anything to worry about there.

Are you asking if you can use the hitch lock to flat tow the Toyota 4Runner? If so, as long as you have a 2" hitch on your motorhome, this lock will work just fine. Please let me know if I misunderstood your question by commenting below. I am happy to get this cleared up for you.
