Replacement Gas Strut for MORryde StepAbove RV Steps with Strut

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/22/2025

Question:

I have the MORryde gas strut 4 steps step above system. My issue is when we fold them up into the doorway for travel. The steps won’t stay in the correct stowed position. They lean outward so much that the screen door catches on the stop plate on the steps. Basically to close our door to travel, I have use my hand to hold the steps inward while closing the door until I can just barely pull my hand out. These steps were factory installed on our Grand Design Momentum 381. They started doing this last year little by little, until now where I have to push and hold them in because they lean outward about an inch farther than they should. I am wondering if it is a strut issue or something else?

Hey Dan! That is definitely the struts wearing out. You can replace them with the # MR56DR. If you need anything else don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.

Hey Dan, did replacing the struts solve the issue with your steps not staying in the correct stowed position? I'm asking because your experience could help others facing a similar problem.
