Hello Jack,
Yes, you can mount the Erickson # EM77316 Spare Trailer Tire Bracket to a round trailer frame, but it requires a few modifications since the bracket is originally designed for square or flat frames.
The included U-bolts are shaped for flat surfaces, so to mount it securely to a round frame, you'll want to replace those with round U-bolts (which you can find at your local hardware store) that match the diameter of your trailer's frame. These round U-bolts will provide a snug fit around the tubing and can be used with the existing bracket if the thread spacing aligns; otherwise, you may need to drill new holes.
To improve stability and reduce stress on the bracket or frame, it's also a good idea to add a flat metal plate or a curved saddle bracket between the mounting plate and the frame. This helps distribute the load and prevents the bracket from twisting or deforming over time. For extra security, use lock washers or nylock nuts to keep the hardware from loosening due to vibration. With these adjustments, the bracket can be safely and effectively mounted to a round frame.
