Looking For Hubs For 1.25" Straight Spindle On 1941 Power Company Trailer

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/06/2025

Question:

Hello. I just purchased a trailer for a build i am doing and the hubs are built into the rims which is cool but makes it tough for having a spare. Its a 1941 power company trailer. I would like to run an 8 lug hub my only issue i am finding is the spindle on my axle is 1.5 inches all the way down the spindle meaning the inner and outer bearing both need an ID that would fit an 1 and a half spindle. Do you have any idea what hub I would be able to used on that axle? I would prefer 8 lug but will settle for something else if I have no other option.

Hello Steven, thanks for reaching out. We do offer a few bearings with a 1.25" ID but sadly there are no hubs made for a 1.25" straight spindle. A lot of older trailers use bearing combinations or hubs that are now obsolete, and it sounds like this is the case with you 1941 power company trailer. It is just too old and you will likely have a very hard time finding parts going forward.

Replacing the spindles, or replacing the axle with something more standard would be the next thing we would look at. For a new axle I would need to know what weight capacity you need. I would also need to know the hub face (HF) and spring center (SC) length of your axle. It can be tough replacing parts on these old trailers because you may find that new U-bolts, leaf springs, suspension bolts and hangers may be needed as well. One thing always leads to another if you catch my meaning.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey Steven, what did you end up doing with the axle on your 1941 power company trailer? Were you able to replace the spindles or go with a new axle setup? Your update could really help others working on older trailers like yours.
