Will Reese Goose Box Bind Up on Unlevel Ground Like Fifth Wheel Hitch Does

Question:

We do a lot of boondocking, which can mean unlevel ground when hitching and unhitching. With my 5th wheel hitch, it can be hard for the Jaws to let go of the kingpin when unhitching. Will the goosebox do the same, bind 2hnr unlevel or can I unhitch easier?

Hey Clarendon, great question but no the Reese Goose Box part # RP59KR would not find up like your fifth wheel hitch does. The really great thing about gooseneck couplers is that due their design they just don't get bound up like fifth wheel hitches do. Overall in my opinion they are superior to fifth wheel setups in every way.

Hey Clarendon, how did things go with the Reese Goose Box when you tried unhitching on uneven ground? It’d be great to hear if it released more smoothly than your fifth wheel hitch. Your experience could help others who boondock in similar spots.
