Adding Solar Package To 2019 Jayco Whitehawk 29RL

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/01/2025

Question:

Dear Etrailer I am buying this system and I have a 2019 Jayco Whitehawk 29RL RV camper and it’ says its solar ready My question is yes this will charge my batteries but I won’t be able to use my plugs or heater or TVs or anything without an inverter, is that correct? I know this go power system will work to charge the batteries and get me through one night without losing battery power My question is I doubt it will run my electric heater fireplace for heat and I doubt I can run my propane heater at night unless I have an inverter So I’m just curious what I would need in your opinion to have a great set up for us to be anywhere we are traveling I would love to save any money I can so if you sell any products that are cheaper that would work and are high quality please let me know. Besides that I’d still lounge you opinion on which inverter for the go Power and then send over anything you would offer that’s not go power but has great offers for what I’m looking for here I can go bigger wattage but I don’t really know if I need to I’d love to be able to run everything with solar when I can and then use my generator as a back up to use for hours if needed Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller - 400 Watt Solar Panels GP39MR $1051.96 Go Power AGM RV Battery - Deep Cycle - Group 27 - 12V - 100 Amp Hour 34276285 X2 $586.02 This is what I was looking at on your site and an RV friend has this system and he says he loves it Thank you for all your help and I just want to make sure I’m sizing this correctly and everything Thank you Nancy

Hello Nancy, thanks for reaching out. Sounds like you are on the right track here. The Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System # GP39MR is a great choice for a starter solar system. Solar panels will work to keep your batteries topped off but it cannot be used to directly power appliances like a heater or fireplace. For that you will need a battery bank and an inverter.

For that what I recommend is the Go Power Industrial Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger # 34275013. This has a built in transfer switch so you won't need it separately. The inverter will require some extra wire you will have to pick up on your own to run to your power center and the batteries. A fuse like # 34244227REVA is also required. We have a full kit which puts a lot of this together which is # 34282184.

Go power recommend using a battery bank with 200A/HR or 400A/HR capacity, so if you go with the # 34276285 you would want to do at least two batteries. The suggested battery configurations are shown below.

I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out with any other questions or comments and I will get back to you.

Hey Nancy, how did your setup go with the Go Power Overlander system and the inverter you were considering? I’m curious if the combination gave you the power you needed for your heater and other appliances. Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar solar setup.
