Is the Frame Height Important When Selecting a Weight Distribution Hitch?

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/21/2025

Question:

23 Tacoma with tow package During research, as I am still on fence regarding the wdh, I noted that a couple brands state a max trailer height of 6 ft. The trailer I am purchasing is 7x14x7. How critical is the max height? thank you

Hey Deb! That 6" maximum trailer frame height is pretty important because of the brackets and how they attach to your trailer. What that measurement is referring to is how tall your trailer's tongue is. I have attached a diagram below to show you this measurement.

So long as your trailer's tongue isn't over 6" tall the Blue Ox SwayPro item # BXW0350 will work. What kind of trailer are you purchasing?

Hey Deb, what ended up happening with the Blue Ox SwayPro for your trailer? Did the tongue height come in under that 6-inch limit? Your update could make it easier for others checking their trailer measurements.
