Question:
Will the BandW continuum weight distribution hitch fit the Brinkley z285 travel trailer? We have a lot of sway and want a hitch that controls it. We have an equalizer hitch but it doesnt help much with sway. We load the trailer correctly, I think, so that isnt the problem.

Hi JIm; looking at the Brinkley Z285 I do not believe the # BW28FR will be able to fit. If you want to remove the box on the tongue it will work but I'm guessing you would rather not. Also, Equal-i-zer makes one of the best systems out there so I don't think the Continuum is the solution. Did you pick out the Equal-i-zer or did the dealer just give you one? I would double check the installation to make sure it is properly setup. I would also make sure it is properly rated for your setup.
Weight distribution hitches (aside from the Continuum) use different spring bars for different capacities. Looking at the 2025 specs you would need the # EQ37120ET ( rated for 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs of tongue weight) or # EQ37140ET (1,000 lbs - 1,400 lbs). It is a pretty heavy trailer so if you're towing really close to the max capacity of your tow vehicle that would also play a role in sway and may be tough to mitigate regardless of the WDH you use.

Hey Jim, did checking the setup and weight rating on your Equal-i-zer hitch help with the sway on your Brinkley Z285? Your update could make it easier for others trying to dial in their weight distribution system.
