Can 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2500RL Use Higher Capacity Leaf Springs

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/10/2025

Question:

I have a 2021 Imagine 2500RL. I have Morryde CRE3000 and wet bolt/shackles installed. The springs however have flattened quite a bit. Looking at replacing the 4 leaf with 5 leaf springs...looks like part e34SR would fit...I realize the weight load is 6000lbs vs the current 3500lbs per axle...is that an issue? Have almost exclusively shopped trailer over the past 12 years of RVing. Appreciate your input... Please advise.

Hey David! Welcome back. If you move to leaf springs like the # e34SR you're in for a rough ride. A slight increase in capacity isn't a problem but this is quite the jump so I do not recommend it. Instead, I would stick with the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # DX23CR (assuming you need 25-1/4" long leaf springs). If you want to increase the capacity slightly I wouldn't go higher than a 4k leaf spring like the # e57SR.

Hey David, how did things go with the replacement leaf springs on your Imagine 2500RL? Did the 3,500-lb or 4,000-lb springs end up giving you the ride quality you wanted? Your update could make it easier for others choosing between those options.
