Updated 03/05/2025 | Published 03/01/2025

Question:

I have a 2028 F150 with incandescent lights and I want to connect an led tailgate light bar. Di you have an adapter that will allow me to run the led light? Preferably a 4 or 5 way flat type.

Hey Keith! Not sure if you have a 2018 or a 2020 F-150 but I know you don't have a 2028. If you do not have a trailer connector on your truck you'll need to install the Curt 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector w/ 60" Harness item # C58044. There are no custom fit harnesses if your truck didn't come with some form of a trailer connector from the factory.

If your truck does have a 7-way connector, you'll be able to use the Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Way Connector Adapter item # PK12716 to power your LED tailgate light bar.

What year truck do you have and does your F-150 have any kind of trailer connector?

It was a typo.. I have a 2018. The truck does not work well with LED lights so I was hoping to get a 4 flat adapter that would allow LED lights to be connected to my truck, but it seems unlikely one exists. Thanks for your help.

@Keith Yeah I thought it was funny! There's not a 4-flat adapter but I've still got a solution for you. We run into this issue frequently with trailer's that have LED lights. Wiring in one of the Putco LED Light Bulb Load-Resistor Kit item # P230004A will solve your issue.
