Troubleshooting LED Trailer Lights Not Working Consistently With My Chevy

Updated 04/09/2026 | Published 09/19/2025

Question:

I have a 2022 Chevy silverado duramax HD 2500 pickup that I cannot get the trailer lights to work consistantly. I have most problems with trailers that have LED lights. I had the truck checked by my dealer and no problems were found with the truck system. Will your adapter p/n C57003 fix my problem? Thank you for your help.

Hey Ben,

We have seen this issue many times with all different types of vehicles. It typically is the fact that the LED lights do not pull enough power for your vehicle to read that they are connected. For a fix for that the Curt 7-way adapter, # C57003, is going to do the trick to help mimic that of incandescent lights eliminating that issue.

What are you mainly towing with that Chevy?

Hey Ben, how did things go with the Curt 7-way adapter on your Silverado’s trailer lights? Did it help keep the LED lights working more consistently? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue.

@John The issue could stem on the trailer side. Issues with corrosion, damaged wiring or even faulty trailer lights.

@John did same and it has not fixed my issue, I have manually tested all lights on trailer with a 12v source (jumper). Still working issue. Chevy does have TBS on problem. Adapter did not help
