Trying to Get Gen-Y Offset Gooseneck Ball to Release from Truck Pucks

Updated 03/13/2025 | Published 02/28/2025

Question:

So, I installed in my truck . I bought the offset from e-tailer and slid it in with no problem. Connect the trailer up and moved it in the driveway a couple of feet and disconnected. Now I cant pull the offset out. Any ideas on how to get it out?

Hey Greg, are the pucks of the Gen-Y offset ball part # GY43XR able to turn? can you get any portion of the release mechanisms to release?

Yes, the two nuts on the side are loose and they wiggle a little. the release pin does turn and turn to the unlock position.

@GregW It really shouldn't be that difficult to release but have you tried any pry bars or rubber mallets to try and help work it loose? Worse case scenario hook your trailer back up to it and latch it to the ball and use the trailer jacks to pull it out.

@JamesonC my trailer at shop right now. But I have tried a pry bar and it was only flexing the bed.

@JamesonC Does it seem like the issue is that the release mechanism is stuck or not engaged to the release lever? When you turn the release pin does it feel like it's just spinning freely without moving anything internally?
