Identifying Base Plate Kit on 1996 Geo Tracker

Updated 02/25/2025 | Published 02/14/2025

Question:

I would like to know if this tow bar e34zr will work with the base plate I have on my 1996 Geo tracker. I do not know the brand of the base plate. I have attached a picture of the base plate. Also what else would I need to buy to make this tow bar work with my 1996 Geo tracker, the Geo tracker lights are already wired with a 6 pin round connector. My class A motorhome has a 8 pin round connector and a 2inch receiver hitch. The 1996 Geo tracker weighs 2500 lbs.

Hey Pete, that looks like a Blue Ox base plate kit installed on your 1996 Geo Tracker but to verify that you would need to measure the distance between the lugs and verify it is 3/4 of an inch. If so, it's a Blue Ox setup and the etrailer tow bar # e34ZR would not work. Let me know what dimension you find.

@Peter Do you have access to the vehicle? See if you can drop the front fascia and see if it looks like the part # DM9517023. It looks like it could be a Demco.

I found a sticker on the base plate. It says Automatic Equipment MFG. The space between the slots is 24" center to center and the gap is 5/8". What is the thickness of the tow bar E34ZR that slides into the slots on the base plate. Not sure how to attached picture of the sticker. Pete

@Peter I did get your picture. I've checked with a few people here and none of us are familiar with that brand so that is really interesting. I can say that the width of the clevis on the # E34ZR is 5/8 of an inch so in that regard it is the same.
