Would DeeZee Transfer Tank # DZ92556N Allow Fifth Wheel to be Towed as Well

Updated 11/01/2025 | Published 02/14/2025

Question:

I have a 1978 Jeep j20 pickup with this DZ fuel tank and the baffles fell over. So its time for a new one. My question: will this fuel tank interfere with the curtain five fifth wheel hitch or hauling a fifth wheel trailer in general instead of this truck? I have the old DZ fuel tank installed 4 in from the front of the bed.

Hey Cliff, so the dimensions of the Dee Zee Specialty Series Liquid Transfer Tank # DZ92556N would pretty easily allow a fifth wheel to be used. It's not too tall and it's not too wide. The dimensions are 59-1/2" long x 9" wide x 19" tall. How far from the front of the bed is your front rail?

Hey Cliff, what did you find out about the fit of that Dee Zee transfer tank with your fifth wheel setup? Once you checked the distance from the front rail, did it look like you’d have enough clearance? Your update could make it easier for others using a similar tank and hitch combo.

@JamesonC Hello, I did not purchase the new DZ fuel tank. But, As i mentioned in my question that I already have a DZ fuel tank of the same dimensions. So by asking the question, and the link you provided, my question was answered. Yes the deezee 39 gallon transfer tank is perfect for reserve fuel storage allowing 5th wheel towing without issue.
