Troubleshooting Surt Chain Hangers Not Having Room to Fit on Trailer Tongue

Updated 02/13/2025 | Published 02/10/2025

Question:

I have what I believe is the 10k trunioun style wieght distribution hitch. My issue is my trailer is a a short tounge. Do they make a shorter bar for these systems and if so do you have them. In the picture you can see it dont go back far enough for my bars to properly attach. Thanks

Hey Robert, thanks for reaching out!

The 10K Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # C17322 is going to have arms that sit closer to the coupler than pretty much every other weight distribution system on the market. With this setup the hangers are going to sit 30-5/8" out from the coupler (see attached photo).

If the problem is that you don't have enough space on top of your frame for the clamps, then I recommend looking into the Curt Chain Hangers # C17005 which are bolt-on as opposed to clamp-on. This means you don't need the extra space above your frame for this to fit.

I didn't get a picture in with your question so if what I'm talking about isn't what you were referring to, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you out some more!
