Yeah, that's a pretty accurate way to describe it Ron! The Benton LittleShift Bike Rack item # B54VR is the 1-bike version of the 2-bike item # B54FR and the 4-bike item # B82FR.

The Benton LittleShift Bike Rack item # B54VR has a 80 lbs capacity and fits tires up 4" wide. It can be used in a wheel or frame mounted configuration so it'll work on most if not all bikes on the market so long as they 50" or less wheelbase and tires between 20" - 29" in diameter.

What kind of bike do you have?

Do you know why the 2-bike B54FR has a 48" wheelbase as a max? Vs the 1-bike B54VR says 50? My real question is I have two pretty "normal" size bike. A large Canyon Neuron, its wheelbase is listed as 48.5. AND a XL Canyon Spectral which has a listed wheelbase of 51.5. I'm worried if these will be fit and secure on the 2 bike # B54FR. Any suggestions?

@Jordan The length of the support bar where the wheel mounts attach to is longer on the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack item # B54VR. That's why it can support a bike with a longer wheelbase than the Shifts&Grins Bike Rack item # B54FR. How heavy is your XL Canyon Spectral bike and does it have a carbon frame?

@JerredH Both are the Carbon frame. Do you think they will fit?

@Jordan No, not at all. Your bikes are too long. They won't sit right in the wheel trays of the Shifts&Grins item # B54FR. Instead you'll want to go with the Saris Edge Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # SAR74YR. This bike rack works with wheel-bases up to 53" and works great with carbon framed bikes.
