Bike Rack Solution for Truck with Decked System

Updated 01/27/2025 | Published 01/23/2025

Question:

Hi there, I have a Decked system in the back of my GMC Sierra truck. Im looking for a bike rack solution thats not bulky that I could bolt into the surface of the Decked system to hold a mountain bike, preferably with the wheels still on. Like a roof bike rack but not using crossbars. ideally, I could also attach it with wing nuts or something thats sort of easy to remove when not needed. Ideally, it would also be able to hold a fat tire bike, if needed. One thing I was looking at is your RockyMounts TomaHawk Roof Bike Rack for Fat Bikes - Wheel Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum Thoughts or Ideas? Thanks, Scott

Hey Scott, you could use a Hollywood Racks Truck Bed Bike Carrier part # HRT970 and have it attach to the topof your deck if I am understanding what you have correctly. Do you think this would work? We see a lot of people use this rack to attach a rack to the top of a tonneau cover and it works well.

Hi Jameson. Thank you - this would work for part of my use case (bike with easy to remove front wheel), but I'm looking for something that could hang onto a mountain bike with the wheels still attached and/or a beefier bike with 4" width tires. I'm thinking of something like a 1up super duty roof rack tray style setup with a flat bottom that could be bolted directly to the Decked deck, so to speak.

@Scott I wish we had something similar that would allow you to keep the front wheel mounted but at this time we do not have that type of rack.
