Will Yakima Spacebooster Cargo Box Fit a 2014 Toyota Sienna with Raised Rails

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/19/2025

Question:

Howdy, Ive got a 2014 Toyota Sienna with raised side rails. My question is about mounting an old Yakima Spacebooster roof box to aero bars. The mounting clamps the box uses seem to be universal and have worked well with the square bars I had on previous vehicles. As I understand it the Spacebooster has long been discontinued so its difficult to find specifications or examples of the hardware on the web. Mine still works great so Id like to just keep using it. Is my roof box mounting hardware compatible with aero bars? OR - what information do I need to have to figure it out? Thanks in advance.

Howdy, Andrew!

According to my research your Yakima Spacebooster uses mounting hardware similar to the Replacement Mounting Clamp # Y62XR so it will fit aero-style crossbars just fine. If you can send me some photos of this though, I can confirm if your hardware looks like it will work or not.

For a roof rack system that mounts to your raised rails I recommend the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MAL84AR. This is a simple, no-frills solution for you to get your cargo box on top of your 2014 Toyota Sienna.

Hey Andrew, how did things go with mounting your Yakima Spacebooster on the aero bars? Did the clamps fit the Malone AirFlow2 rack the way you hoped? Your update could make it easier for others trying to reuse older Yakima boxes.
