Picking Out Disc Brake Kit that Fits 2001 Jayco Eagle 12FSO
Updated 01/20/2025 | Published 01/13/2025 >
Question:
We have a 2001 Jayco Eagle 12FSO pop-up camper, and Im interested in replacing the drum brakes with discs for better braking performance in the mountainous areas we usually travel and for easier servicing / maintenance down the road. This kit seems to be the best option, as it says it will fit under the existing 13inch wheels but still has 10inch rotors. Presuming everything at the axle is factory original, will this fit our tent trailer? Would I need to replace the current surge brake actuator and hydraulic lines as well, or would the existing ones work fine?

Hey JP, if your 2001 Jayco Eagle 12FSO has 3,500 lb axles on it then yes the Kodiak disc brake kit part # KOD67FR would be correct. I don't have a way to verify your axle capacity though so I would need you to run out and check and see what you have. It will be on the axle on a tag or if you get me the diameter of the axle I will be able to tell from that as well. If it is 2-3/8 inches in diameter that verifies it's a 3,500 as well.
It will fit your 13 inch wheels as well.
Your actuator would need to be changed too if you have drum brakes as disc brakes require quite a bit more pressure to operate. The lines are good though. If you let me know which model of actuator you have though it could be as simple as just swapping to a new master cylinder.

It looks like our pop-up has a Torflex rubber torsion suspension axle. I can't see a model number, but based on the information on the Dexter group's website, I'm guessing it's a #10 or #10F model (which are rated for 2,300-4,000 lbs. capacity). Not sure if this is enough info to tell whether this kit will fit or not...
