What is the Difference with the E Tracks that are 5 1/8" Wide and 4 7/8" Wide?

Updated 01/10/2025 | Published 01/09/2025

Question:

What is the significance , or reasoning to the various widths. Why would one buy 5 1/8 verse 4 7/8. Are the slots still the same? Is the height the same?

Hello Todd,

Yes, they are basically the same. I went out to the warehouse to make sure the slots are the same, they measure 1/2" in the most narrow part, 1" in the widest part, and they are 2 1/2" long. The only "real" difference is the name. The # 3371903055 is 5 1/8" wide overall and is made by Buyers, and the # e45VR is 4 7/8" and is our etrailer brand. Our prices to change quite often, looks like at this time the Buyers would be the better deal. Although if you were using it somewhere where it can get wet or damp our etrailer # e45VR would be the better choice since it has the galvanized finish.

Where do you plan on installing these, and what are there purpose?

I hope 2025 brings you many awesome adventures! From, your friends here at etrailer!

@Todd In that case I would definitely go with the Buyers # 3371903055 since they are the most cost effective at the moment. If you are looking for some great tie downs our etrailer E Track Wheel Tie Down Straps w/ Roller Idlers - 2" x 12' - 1,100 lbs - Qty 2 # e64PR. They are equally as good as the Erickson # EM58523-09162 for quite a bit less. I know the Ericksons come with the wheel chocks, but that can be purchased separate # EM09162-2, and with the money you save you can make yourself a nice steak dinner! Now you kind of opened the door to this next question, what kind of cars are you hauling? I would imagine since you are installing these in an enclosed trailer, must be a pretty sick ride.
