Question:

This is the right size but my current boat fridge is not set up for 12 volt, it runs on shore power AC. Will this fridge work? It is the correct size. Maybe it’s easy to set it up for 12 volt I just don’t know that much about this yet! :-

Hi Robin,

If your boat already has a 12V system set up, it would be relatively easy to run a 12V DC circuit to the refrigerator to the Norcold RV Mini Fridge part # NC37VR. Many boats that currently use a 120V AC refrigerator already have a 12V battery system for lights, pumps, electronics, etc that you could use to run the 12V circuit. The circuit would need to be protected with a fuse or breaker, and your battery charger or converter would keep the batteries charged when connected to shore power. The refrigerator will still be running on 12V DC, with the converter supplying that power while plugged in.

If your boat doesn't have a 12V battery system already, I would suggest finding an alternate fridge that runs off shore power. The Everchill RV Mini Fridge - 3.2 Cu Ft - 115V part # 324-000111 is the most similar internal and external size in comparison to the NC37VR. It is 3.2cu ft and has dimensions of 17-1/2" wide x 30-3/4" tall x 19-1/8" deep which is a bit smaller than the Norcold. There are some other options that have bigger dimensions than the NC37VR but that would require modification to where the fridge fits if you're ok with doing that.
