What Gauge Wire Should I Use to Install (2) # TLL44FB at the Back of My Super Duty?

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/28/2024

Question:

I plan to install two of these Optronic Opti-Brite LED Work Lights TLL44FB to the back bumper of our Super Duty. The maximum wire run from the engine compartment to the mounting locations is roughly 32 feet. I see these lights draw 1.1 amps each. My question is this. what wire gauge should I use for this project?

Hello Brian,

In order to install (2) of the # TLL44FB at the back bumper of your Super Duty you are safe using 14 AWG wire, if you plan on installing more lights in the future I would do the 12 AWG wire. You will also want to install a 5A fuse near the power source, the # C58470-1 will get the job done. One last thing to remember, make sure the wires and connections are weatherproof and grounded properly.

Hey Brian, how did the wiring go for the two Opti-Brite LED work lights on your Super Duty? Did the 14-gauge wire and 5A fuse setup give you the brightness you were hoping for? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar project.
