How to Connect Parking Brake on Cruisemaster DO35 Coupler to Electric Trailer Brakes

Updated 12/04/2025 | Published 12/15/2024

Question:

Hello there. I have a question. Is there any way to connect a handbrake from my trailer coupler to electric brakes? I have a Cruisemaster do35 coupler. It comes with a handbrake and was seeing if there was a way to connect them to electric brakes on my drums. Thank you!

Hi Matt; the first thing I would do is contact Cruisemaster. I'm assuming that works like the Dexter Parking Brake # T2385200 but I wasn't able to find enough information to say for sure. I am also assuming you would need an additional kit from them with the cables to connect to the handle on the coupler. If they say the Dexter cable will work you can use # T2385500. The other thing you need is brake assemblies that have a parking brake like the # K23-086-087-00.

Hey Matt, were you able to get any guidance from Cruisemaster about linking the handbrake on your DO35 coupler to your electric brakes? Knowing what they said could help others trying to set up a similar system. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same question.

Hi Robin We're trying to add electric brakes with a park brake feature to a trailer. I know about the 23-067 brakes etc. What I need is a cable and handle that can be added to the trailer. Is there a kit for this? Thanks
