Hey Daniel,
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector - Preorder # C86RV is just a place holder for whatever harness Curt comes out with for the 2024 Ford Ranger. This just means curt told us they're actively working on the harness but gave us no date.
If you're needing something right now you can use a universal harness like the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236 to get a 4-pole connector and then the # ETBC7 if you're wanting a 7-way or brake controller.
These harnesses are something you could install at home, but you'll need some specific tools to complete the job. You'll need a tester # PTW2993 to test the tail light wiring and see what each wire's function is. You'll need a wire stripper tool # PT43ZR and crimper # PTW30764 to cut and splice your wires and a variety of butt connectors both 10-12 gauge # DW05745-10 and 16-14 gauge # DW05744-10. Other than that you'll need some wrenches, screwdrivers, and other standard hand tools to complete the job. You might need a certain Torx bit size for the screws that hold the tail lights in place but that varies vehicle to vehicle so I'd check yours and see if one is needed.
