Question:

I have a brand new 2024 Toyota Tacoma with a 500 bed. I was disappointed to learn the I cannot install my ten or twelve year old Trac/Rac ladder rack on this new truck. I had previously installed my Trac/Rac on a Chevy Silverado and two GMC Canyons with no problemand no drilling. The new Tacoma has no provision for installing my old Trac/Rac ladder rack. I cant even use the new Trac/Rac clamp on ladder racks. Any suggestions, other options or manufacturers? Bummer.

Hey Richard, congrats on the new truck! It is a bummer that your old TracRac cannot be used on your new truck, but we do have some other good options for you.

If you liked your TracRac, we have the Thule TracRac TracONE # TH27000XT which will fit the 2024 Tacoma with the 5' bed. This will fit as long as you do NOT have the OEM utility track system on the bed rail. If the track is present it will need to be removed in order to install the ladder rack. Thule is a high-end brand and their racks are definitely top quality.

If you want to go with a different brand, check out the Malone TradeSport Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Load Stops # MAL55VR. This is an 800 lb capacity aluminum ladder rack. It is an easy clamp-on installation so no drilling. The crossbars have a top channel which can be used for mounting the load stops or any other channel mount accessory.

Good morning, Jesse M. Thanks for the follow up reminder. While researching every ladder rack under the sun, I had forgotten about the Thule TracONE Truck Bed Ladder Rack. This might be the one for me, good quality, aluminum and it looks fairly easy to install. FYI - I was just about ready to order a Spyder Headache rack for almost double the money of the TracRAC. They do have a very unique way of attaching the Headache rack to the truck bed utilizing the OEM utility track system on the bed rail. Especially, if you wanted in install a truck bed tool box behind the cab. P.S. etrailer is great with their prompt responses, easy to understand, good practical information and up front pricing. I have purchased several items from etrailer, replacement rims and tires for one of my boat trailers, a really nice Folton trailer jack and wheel and also a trailer winch.
