How to Use a Stabilizing Strap With the Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack on a Honda Civic

Question:
I have a Curt 1 1/4 receiver on my Civic. I am interested in purchasing a Swagman XTC2 rack. If i have to use the stabilizer strap....wont it slip off the top of the post of the rack? I had previously had the Titan 3 and was very unhappy with the amount of bounce while driving. Thanks

Expert Reply:
If the attachment point for the stabilizing strap on your Honda Civic is taller than the upright post of the Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack, # S64670, then it could potentially slip off of the post. To prevent this from happening, you could wrap the stabilizing strap around the post under one of the hooks. It may rub against your bike frame, but that is usually not much of a concern as long as the strap is nylon and you do not have a custom paint job.
