Recommended Power Adapter for a Backup Camera System Not Working w/ a New Vehicle

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/04/2024

Question:

I recently bought a 2021 Lance 1575 travel trailer and it came with a voyager wisight backup camera I believe pre installed at original dealer. The portable monitor is about 4” wide with a suction cup. I have a 2021 Chevy Tahoe with deluxe tow package but no matter what I do the monitor will not pair with the camera. I follow the YouTube video and turn the running lights off before pairing and it still will not pair. Is this a problem with voyager monitors and Chevy Tahoe? Is there anything you recommend to fix this problem? Thank you

Hey John! We get this issue quite often and it has to do with the power your Tahoe's 7-Way is sending back to your travel trailer. The newer vehicles do not supply a steady enough current so it causes difficulty with back up camera's functioning and in your case pairing. There's two solutions to this problem.

The first is to use the 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera item # FR87PR. This connects in line with your trailer's 7-way connector and your Tahoe's 7-way connector. This will supply the steady source of power your camera needs.

The second option is to hardwire an adapter in behind your camera. You can use the 12V PWM Filter for RV Backup Camera Systems item # VGR64VR. It does the same job as the one that plugs into the 7-way.

I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get the filter installed.

Hey John, did adding the power adapter or the PWM filter get your Voyager WiSight camera to pair with your Tahoe? Your results could really help others running into the same pairing issue with newer vehicles.
