Recommended Replacement For A Dometic GC10A-4E RV Water Heater

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/22/2024

Question:

Is the Atwood AT94022 a direct replacement for the Dometic GC10A4E? That meaning dimensions and electrical connections. Previously ordered the GC10A4E from Amazon, but no longer can find it this time around.

Hey Marvin,

The Atwood AT94022 is also unfortunately discontinued along with the rest of the Atwood brand. Water heaters have shrunk in size a bit so you're going to have to do a bit of alteration to the cutout hole to fit a new water heater. With the Dometic GC10A-4E being 16" tall x 15-1/2" wide x 20-7/8" deep you'll need to screw in some wood to fill in the gap and give the new unit something to mount to. I've attached a video below where Jake will go through the installation and talk about adding in the wood to fill the gap.

I recommend going with a Furrion tankless water heater (12-5/8" wide x 12-5/8" tall x 19-1/4" deep). There's a few different access door sizes so you'll want to measure your current one incase yours is a bit larger than 16" x 15.5":

16" x 16" # FR98SR
16" x 18" # FR48SR
18" x 18" # FR68SR

Hey Marvin, how did things go with fitting the Furrion tankless water heater in place of your old Dometic model? Your update could make it easier for the next person working through a similar replacement.
