Will Axle of Trailer Become Disconnected if Spring of Roadmaster Comfort Ride Breaks

Question:

I am interested in installing the Roadmaster Comfort Ride slipper spring kit for a tandem axle fifth wheel. I have one concern with this configuration. I have read many instances where a regular eye-eye spring will break at the aft most eyelet. But because the front eyelet is still fastened to the trailar at the equalizer, the axle stays secured to the trailer. In some cases, the RV is driven miles before the driver realized something is wrong. If this same breakage occurs with the Roadmaster slipper springs, what keeps the axle fastened to the trialer? It looks like the axle would separate from the trailer. What am I missing?

Hey Larry, this is a great question but it's not something we've seen with the Roadmaster Comfort Ride system part # RM-2460-2570. This is because of how many individual leaves that each spring pack has so that in the event something were to break the other leaves would catch it before it would cause axle to become disconnected.
