What's The Difference Between The 2k And 2.2k Capacity Timbren Axle-Less Systems

Published 10/15/2024

Question:

Hi there. I currently have the asr2khds03 Timbren kit under my off-road trailer. This is the 2k kit, but I was wondering if there is only a bushing change difference to go to the 2.2k kit, or whatever the next weight elastomer is... With the addition of a rack and awning, were pushing the 2k mark and Im noticing some sag. Thanks for your help.

Hey Jim,

The difference is simply just the jounce spring that's built into the two systems. The # ASR1THDS03 is going to be have a stiffer spring built into it to accommodate the extra 200lb of capacity that it has over the # ASR2KHDS03. These springs aren't really available separately but you could try reaching out to Timbren and see if they'll send you the 2.2k springs so you're not having to replace the entire system.

I reached out to them first because I couldn't see a physical difference between the two units and assumed that I could do just that. My point of contact seemed like it was a call center programmed response to force me into the purchase of the full 2.2k unit. Maybe luck or unluck of the draw on my contact, but if I've gotta buy a whole unit to go up 200lbs, I'll probably just adapt the frame for Cruise Master stuff.

@Jim They don't really like mixing and matching parts between different models but they typically will offer "replacements" of the 2.2k spring if get what I'm saying. Otherwise, yeah it's not really worth the extra expense.

@Jim No, it's all through Timbren for the axle-less springs unfortunately.
