Spare Tire Needed For A 155/80R13 Tire Size

Updated 09/30/2024 | Published 09/26/2024

Question:

I am looking for a spare wheel and tire for my trailer. The current wheels are 4 lug wheels with 155/80 R13 R202 tires. Do you have something that will work as a spare tire for this trailer in case I get a flat on the road? I believe the trailer has a solid axle.

Hey John,

It looks like we don't offer that specific tire size so we wouldn't be able to offer you just a spare. If you wanted to switch out your wheels/tires completely and get an extra spare then the closest option with a 4 on 4 wheel bolt pattern would be the 175/80R13 which is 24.02" in diameter and 6.89" wide compared to your current 22.76" diameter and 6.10" width.

If you wanted to go this route so that you would need to check your clearance from the wheels horizontally to the frame and from the top of the tire vertically to the fender. You'll need at least 3" vertically and 1" horizontally to allow for suspension movement. When measuring you can take into account for the new 175/80R13 sizing by subtracting 0.63" from the vertical clearance measurement and 0.4" from the horizontal measurement.

If you want the wheel and tire you can use part # AM3S120 for a painted wheel or # AM3S130 for a galvanized wheel. If you're wanting to keep your current wheels and switch out just the tires you can use part # KE48KV.

Turns out the wheels are 4 x 4.5" spacing. Do you have wheels with that standard?

@John 4 on 4.5 wheel bolt patterns aren't really common anymore so we unfortunately don't have a wheel with this bolt pattern available. At this point the only option we could offer would be to replace the hubs to ones with a more common pattern, like 4 on 4. To do this we would need to know the bearings and grease seal your current hubs use. If the part numbers have worn off like I suspect then I recommend measuring the spindle with a caliper # PTW80157 at points B, C, and D from the diagram I've attached above so we can see if there's a compatible fit.
