Question:
Does the cover provide rain resistance when a cable ethernet or RG6 is plugged in to the port? I live in Washington and need a weather resistant cover for an ethernet cable while connected to the RV.

Hey Chris yes, the SmartPlug RV/Marine Data Port # SM96MJ does provide rain resistance with its weatherproof seal, which seals against a closed-cell foam gasket in the inlet lid.

I getthat the foam seal prevents water intrusion when the port is closed, with no cable attached. My specific question is whether is is still water resistant when a cable is plugged in?. If I am connected to an ethernet cable that runs to the house, is the connection at the trailer still protected from water intrusion.. Or is the connection at the trailer open so the driving rain can hit the connectors, leading to the connection being damaged? Our power cable is water resistant, I plug in to shore power and it is safe and secure from water intrusion eve in a down pour. Is this the same?
