Hi Don,

So long as it isn't too old, yes, you can use the Dexter Replacement Trailer Axle Spindle Retainer Kit # DX82CR on your 84 D spindle. It just needs to have been made after June 2002 and you're good. If you aren't sure when your axle was made you can use the serial number on the tag/sticker on the axle and ask Dexter and they'll let you know.
