Recommended Hub for a Sailboat Trailer w/ L44649 Inner and Outer Bearings

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 09/04/2024

Question:

I have a single axle sailboat trailer with 14” wheels. It uses L44649 1 1/16” ID bearings on the inner and outer position. It’s a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I’m looking for a new hub. What are my options? I’m not sure what weight rating the axle is.

Hey Don, thanks for the information! For a replacement hub with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern that uses item # L44649 inner and outer bearings you'll want the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly item # CE13315.

The CE Smith item # CE13315 is sold individually and works with axles up to 2,700 lbs. It has a galvanized finish which offers protection against corrosion. It includes lug nuts that are zinc plated, bearings, races, grease seal, grease cap, lug nuts, and a cotter pin.

Hey Don, how did the CE Smith trailer hub work out on your sailboat trailer? It’d be great to hear if it fit well with your axle setup. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same bearings and bolt pattern.
