Get a waterproof install using the included sealant approved for use with polycarbonate plastic. Remove the old skylight, then clean and prep the roof surface so it's dry and debris-free. For added sealing, apply butyl tape (sold separately) along the skylight flange before setting it in place. Secure it with 1" zinc or stainless steel screws (not included), then seal over the flange edges and fasteners with the included sealant. If you need hardware or additional sealant, an install kit and extra sealant is available separately (SR76RR or SR86RR). Hello, neighbors. Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Specialty Recreation universal replacement RV skylight. Now folks, this is gonna be a 14 by 22 inch long clear skylight. Now folks, with this, you can replace a damaged or worn out skylight on your RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. You could potentially just install this as a new one as well.
It does fit over a standard 14 inch wide by 22 inch long cutout. It does require a minimum roof thickness of 1.5 inches thick. It is made of a durable polycarbonate. It is UV-resistant and also impact-resistant. You can see you can push down really hard and just pop right back into place.
It's very clear, so it's gonna let the sunshine through. Very easy installation with the included sealant. You can see as well that they've already pre-drilled holes all the way around here for you. So that included sealant, that's their SR140. Always make sure you're using their included sealant and nothing else.
There are no screws included. You would need to pick them up separately or at a local hardware store. Now, going back to that sealant, you never want to use anything but theirs because if you use like a self-leveling sealant mixed with the polycarbonate skylight, it could deteriorate and kind of eat through the polycarbonate. So theirs is a special formula, so make sure you're using the included sealant. We sell that and the installation kit of screws and stuff separately, if you wanna buy those screws with us.
The bubble height is approximately five inches tall from a flat surface. Keep in mind, that bubble height could vary. One, just because of the molds and everything. They're not all exactly a hundred percent the same. And then they can expand and contract while they're being made. (skylight pops) As I just showed you, you can hear it popping right back into place. This thing is super durable. (skylight tapping) Now as far as this skylight itself, the actual dimensions of this guy is 25.5 inches long, outer to outer, and 17.5 inches wide that way. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap it up. This skylight is a high quality replacement. The skylight is made from a much more durable plastic than OEM. It does not come with the tube of caulk that is shown in the picture so just keep that in mind when ordering. I recommend using butyl tape under screw holes and sealing the top with 3 tubes of Lap sealant.
Skylight and garnish are great however one tube of the sealant would never even come close to completing the job. This kit should come with 2 tubes of sealant.
This skylight seems a little thinner and flimsy compared to icon brand but fit our old inner skylight perfectly.
Looks pretty decent quality, but for $130 bucks they could have included the mounting screws.

The unit I was shipped was quite badly warped at the corners unfortunately. I decided not to install it on my roof, because I was concerned it would not maintain a good seal, or potentially crack. For example when holding down the screw holes, there was a gap between the plastic skylight and roof surface. Maybe it would have been OK for a year or two, but I didn't want to drill new holes in my roof without confidence that it would survive a long while (5+ years).

This skylight was the only one I could find that would work as a replacement for the factory skylight over the shower of my Lance 2185 trailer. I tried an Icon first but it did not fit with the factory inner dome. Although this skylight is the only replacement that fit, the Icon product was sturdier and thicker. I would have gone with Icon if they had one that fit, but I'm okay with this one, assuming it holds up.
These skylights are good replacements for the original skylights. But the original skylights turned yellow and brittle during their six year life, even though the trailer always has shade when parked. So these new ones will likely only last 5 or 6 years as well. Considering how much work it is to replace them, I probably should have upgraded them to Lexan for greater durabilty.
