Question:
Hello. I have a tiny camper square back that has the original 205/75/15 tires on it. I would like to go to a more beefy all terrain tire. Not sure how big of tire I can put on this rim. Or do I need a new rim? Was told 225/75/15. Would that fit on my rim? If I need a new tire rim combination which set would you recommend? thank you

Hi Michael; a tire like the # LHWL304 will fit your existing wheel as long as it is 15" x 5" or 15" x 6". This can vary slightly between tires but in general the larger size will fit your current wheels. You will lose a little bit of clearance so it is a good idea to measure and double check against your current tires.
Compared to a ST205/75R15 like the # AM10245 the outer diameter is 1" larger and width is 0.7" wider. This means you will lose 0.5" of clearance on the top and 0.35" of clearance on the inside. The difference isn't much but you might want to check the top if your clearance is already pushing it. There should be 3" at a minimum on top for normal suspension travel. I wouldn't try to go with a larger tire since clearance typically becomes an issue when upsizing beyond the size of the wheel.
To recommend a wheel/tire combo I would at least need to know your bolt pattern. I also don't know what kind of style you're looking for when it comes to wheels. I went ahead and attached a link to all of our wheel/tire combos with 225/75-15 tires below for your reference.

Hey Michael, how did things go with the 225/75R15 tires on your tiny camper? Did the clearance end up working out after you measured against your current setup? Your update could make it easier for others looking to upsize their trailer tires.
