Would Upgrading From 3,500lb Leaf Springs To 4,000lb Springs Hurt Ride Quality

Question:
Hi eTrailer I just replaced a broken leaf spring on my small travel trailer with 3500 Dexter axle. I installed a MAT 218 spring, which I beleive has a load of 1750. We will be towing on rough roads, and I wondered about installing a slightly beefier set of springs, say, rated for 4000 axle or thereabouts. Any danger in using too stiff a spring, other than the obvious rougher ride? What would you suggest in a 4 leaf, 25 1/4 double eye option?

Hey Gary,
Switching from 3,500lb to 4,000lb springs would be totally within reason and wouldn't be so over the top that it would drastically alter your ride quality. We offer 4,000k leaf springs with a 25-1/4" length with part # e57SR, but it is a 3-leaf spring so it won't have as soft of a progression.

Thanks Kevin. I ended up going with the same springs I had previously. When I next replace the, I will try the 4000# version. Cheers
