Question:

22 f150 57 bed with a retrax pro xr cover. looking at the rhino rack system. understand I will need some spacers to elevate rack above retrax cover handle. i like the low profile design, however i need to sometimes carry items such as a kayak, therefore have the need for the rack to expand to allow for longer cargo. Are there tower extensions that are available for this system? Regards Peter

Hey Peter,

There unfortunately are no type of extensions for the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbars for Retrax XR and Mountain Top EVO-M Tonneau Covers # RRVA180B-RRRLT600.

There are just spacers for it so the crossbars sit up higher from the Retrax XR # RTX47SR on your F-150, the Roof Rack Leg Spacer Blocks for Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - 10 mm (about 3/8") # RRQMVA10, 15 mm (about 9/16") # RRQMVA15, and 20 mm (about 3/4") # RRQMVA20.

These will raise the crossbars up from the 4-1/4" height, but that's the max extension for the Rhino-Rack. There is a different option that'll work with your Retrax cover, the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Tonneau Cover Adapters # Y01151-5855.

The OverHaul allows you to adjust the its crossbars between 19" and 30", and while it's not as low-profile as the Rhino-Rack and has a bigger price tag, I did want to mention it just to give the option.
