Is There A No-Drill Trailer Hitch For The 1968 Chevy C10?

Updated 10/09/2025 | Published 08/26/2024

Question:

For a 1968 C10 shortbed with an aftermarket flat bumper, which hitch would I use that requires no drilling and just bolts on? Thank you so much, Derrick

Hello Derrick. We do offer a hitch that fits the 1968 Chevy C10, but drilling is going to be required no matter what hitch you go with. For example on the Curt Class 4 Hitch # C14082 you will need to drill 3 mounting holes on either side of the frame rail. So as long as you are down to do a bit of drilling, this hitch is definitely what I recommend. You will find the manufacturer instruction sheet linked below.

Thank you, Jesse. I see two holes on each frame rail (I think they are stock). Will these work with the hitch?

@DerrickB Maybe, but since the vehicle is so old its impossible to say for sure without looking at it. According to the instructions from Curt, all 6 mounting holes must be drilled. The only way to know for sure will be to get the hitch and see if the holes line up or not.

Jesse, Do the holes get driiled into the hitch or the frame? Thanks

@DerrickB Yes the holes get drilled into the frame. You should not have to drill into the hitch itself. With these older trucks tho it isn't always cut and dry so it wouldn't surprise me if you did end up deviating from the instructions slightly.
