Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/23/2024

Question:

I hope you can help me. I have a 2018 Nissan frontier. Mechanic hooked up trailer lights and I never realize there are no running lights. There is no power to the back of the truck for running lights. I opened up the passenger kick panel and there are NO towing relays attached there. UNder the hood I find relays for Towing r and left turn signals and the towing fuse which is good. SO I have turning signals which work and turning relays. There are no relays for brakes and revers yet these lights work . There is no relay for running lights and these dont work? The only conclusion I can came to is brakes and reverse dont need relays and therefore work Turning signals and running lights do need relay . I have relays for turning so they work but not running and thats why they dont work ?

Hey Mike it does sound like you are missing the trailer running light circuit relay on your 2018 Nissan Frontier. We have this as the part # C57000. This could be the location by the passenger side foot panel or it could even be in the slot that's behind the dash panel by the driver's legs.

Hey Mike, did adding the relay kit get your trailer running lights working on your Frontier? Knowing how it turned out could really help others sorting through the same wiring issue.
