Adding 5th Wheel Rails to 2004 Ford F-250 With Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Hitch

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/08/2024

Question:

I have a curt double lock gooseneck hitch in my 2004 f350. Can I install this around that gooseneck or Will I need to remove it? Or is there other options? Thanks

Hi Ethan; you won't be able to install base rails with the Curt Double Lock already in your 2004 F-350 unless you want to remove the gooseneck hitch. What you can do instead is use an adapter. Assuming this is the regular Double Lock you need the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # C16210. If you have the EZr Double you need the # C16220 instead.

Hey Ethan, how did things go with the Curt X5 adapter for your F-350’s Double Lock hitch? Your results could really help others trying to pair a gooseneck with a fifth-wheel setup.
